One of the breakout dance festivals of last year was undoubtedly We Are FSTVL. After a barnstorming inaugural debut, the Essex-based weekender stole the show for it’s sophomore effort, with sets from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Fatboy Slim, Disclosure,  High Contrast, Lee Foss, MK, Jamie Jones, Kenny Dope, Sven Vath, Annie Mac, Noisia, Carl Craig, and perennial Headfunk favorite, Totally Enourmous Extinct Dinosaurs to name but a few of the hundred or so acts across the weekend.

Two years in, and with some of the biggest names having already graced the stage, the pressure was on for them to deliver again. I’m relieved to say, they have. With gusto. As icons within dance music go, I’m not entirely sure you can go much better than the Ibiza legend that is Carl Cox. Making his debut at ‘We Are’, Cox has been honing his craft now for 30+ years, and this promises to be another great festival set from one of the originators of club culture.

Joining him on the mainstage will be underground house legend, Seth Troxler. Known for creating some of the world’s finest and most intuitive dance cuts, Seth will be looking to show Upminster what makes him the best at what he does. Other names to grace the mainstage this year include Monki, Solomun, Gorgon City and Hot Since ’82.

Elsewhere on the site on Saturday will see stages curated by the likes of Loco Dice, Hannah Wants, Defected (With a lineup handpicked by the labels wunderkind Sam Divine), And Mark Knight’s Toolroom:Live

Sunday has yet to announce any acts for the ‘Field of Dreams’ mainstage, but Cocoon will return for a third year straight with a stage takeover featuring the likes of Sven Vath and Riccardo Villalobos. Hospital Records bring some drum and bass to the proceedings with Camo & Crooked, Logistics b2b Nu:Tone, Lynx, Fred V & Grafix and Etherwood. Special guests will also include garage legends DJ EZ & MJ Cole, as well as the joyful Toyboy & Robin, all supported by three of the leading MCs on the circuit; Lowqui, Wrec & Dynamite MC.  Paradise are also hosting a stage, spearheaded by head honcho Jamie Jones, with a roster that includes Jackmaster, Richy Ahmed & WaFF. Sunday’s arena takovers  are rounded out by MK’s Arena 10.

Ticket outlets and the full lineup can be found at their official website. Keep an eye open for more announcements in weeks to come.
