Wah Friends Electric Volume 2
Wah Wah 45s can surely lay claim to be being one of the finest independent UK record labels. It’s fifteen years old this year and there are plans afoot for a selection of parties across the country as well as Europe. We’ll be doing a full feature on label’s history later in the year but it’s a delight to have another great release from them to shout about this week.
‘Wah Friends Electric Volume 2′ is the second instalment of a compilation series concentrating on the more electronic or dancefloor-orientated aspects of their output. The majority of the album is made up of remixes of Wah Wah’s roster of eclectic artists but there are a couple of originals chucked in as well including a luscious piece of deep house from Aaron Jerome, better known now as chart-bothering SBTRKT.
This track is just one of many highlights along with a rather SBTRKT-sounding remix of Paper Tigers by Debian Blak, Fybe One’s heavy, emotive take on ‘Words’ by Part-Time Heroes and bassy discoid funk-up of Henri-Pierre Noel. Recommended dancefloor detonation.
‘Wah Friends Electric’ is available to pre-order direct from the label http://wahwah45s.bandcamp.com/album/wah-friends-electric-2 or or via Juno Download a couple of days earlier than everywhere else http://wahwah45s.bandcamp.com/album/wah-friends-electric-2 and then from all of the most sensible download site from Monday February 10th.
